Tammy and Steve Knaus formed Sun Prairie Sand and Gravel, LLC in March of 1999.
Starting out as a small trucking company we have grown tremendously in the past
seven years. We are currently operating with twelve quad axle dump trucks,
three semi tractors with dump trailers, three full time sewer crews, two
grading crews, a miscellaneous restoration crew, and an office staff including
estimators, project managers, and a degreed restoration/reclamation manager. In
2005 we started to install concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, and other
miscellaneous concrete work. We operate out of five sand and gravel sites,
spread across Dane County, four of which are owned and one is leased by Sun
Prairie Sand and Gravel. We have also started a division that does custom
crushing.
Vierbicher and Associates, Earth Tech Engineering, MSA Professional Services, Mayo Corporation, Royal Oak Engineering, Strand and Associates, and Held and Associates are among the local engineering companies we have worked with on projects. We have worked with numerous municipalities such as the Cities of Madison, Sun Prairie, Stoughton, and Villages of Waunakee and Cambridge to list a few. We have done a project with the State of Wisconsin and are also pre-qualified to work for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Madison. Our private work ranges from $1,000.00 to $2 Million. Our street reconstruction projects and infrastructure improvement projects range from $50,000.00 to $4.5 Million. The experience and the dedication of all of our employees have made it possible for this company to grow and become successful.
